Reliable Deliveries in Construction – PetterSteel and Kaukokiito Developing Logistics Together

Latest news / Reliable Deliveries in Construction – PetterSteel and Kaukokiito Developing Logistics Together

In recent years, delivery reliability has become a critical competitive factor in the construction industry. According to a PwC study, effective supply chain management plays a key role in improving operational reliability and risk management, particularly during periods of uncertainty.

PetterSteel has worked closely with its logistics partner Kaukokiito for many years and is one of the company’s key customers. Our shared development theme is “Delivered Intact, Delivered on Time”, with an ambitious goal: nothing less than 100% delivery reliability.

Supply Chain Resilience Creates a Competitive Advantage

According to PwC’s report, companies that invest in supply chain management and proactive planning are better equipped to respond quickly to market disruptions and changing customer needs. This is particularly relevant in the construction industry, where even a minor delivery delay can have a significant impact on an entire project schedule.

At PetterSteel, improving delivery reliability has long been one of our strategic priorities. Earlier this year, we once again held a development meeting with Kaukokiito, where we analyzed the efficiency of the logistics chain, identified areas for improvement, and planned new operating models. Our shared objective is clear: materials must arrive on site at exactly the right time—precisely when they are needed.

Delivery Reliability Improvements Reflected in the Numbers

Improving delivery reliability is not just a strategic objective—it is already delivering measurable results:

  • 2023: 90.2% delivery reliability
  • 2024: 93.5% delivery reliability
  • January 2025: 97.6% delivery reliability

We are systematically progressing towards our goal of 100% delivery reliability through continuous process improvement. Proactive supply chain management and close cooperation with Kaukokiito have played a key role in enhancing delivery performance, and these are precisely the areas on which we have focused our development efforts.

What Does This Mean for the Construction Industry?

When deliveries arrive on time, the entire construction industry benefits:

  • Projects stay on schedule – Delays are reduced, allowing construction sites to plan and execute their work with greater confidence.
  • Costs remain under control – Waiting times and unnecessary additional costs are minimized.
  • Site productivity improves – Having the right materials in the right place at the right time enables smoother and more efficient operations.

Working Together Towards Delivery Reliability at the Highest Standard

The year 2025 has started strongly, but our development work does not stop here. We will continue to improve our processes so that construction companies and contractors can rely on their sheet metal products arriving on time, every time—delivered to the highest standard.
